The Directorate of Tourism, Andaman Nicobar Administration in association with the department of Travel and Tourism Studies JNRM Port Blair, celebrated The World Tourism Day 2010
in a function organised at JNRM auditorium on 27, September 2010. Sri Vivek Rae, IAS., Chief Secretary, A & N Administration was the Chief Guest and
Shri. Bishnu Pada Ray (Hon’ble M.P) from A & N Islands the Guest of Honour.

The highlight of the function was the launching of the New Tourism Website www.and.nic.in/NewTourism of the Directorate of Tourism designed by NIC, Port Blair.

A beach cleaning drive was undertaken at Wandoor Beach today by Directorate of Tourism, A&N Administration in association with BBA (Tourism & Travel Management) of JNRM, in connection with the celebration of World Tourism Day 2010. About 80 students-both boys & girls of BBA (Tourism & Travel Management) and faculty members of JNRM, participated in the drive. While the officers and staff of Tourism Department accompanied the students and participated in the beach cleaning campaign, some officials of Environment & Forest Department of Wandoor Range were also present and backed the campaign with logistic support.

The students & faculty members of JNRM alongwith the Tourism Department officials jointly collected and deposited the rubbish in an identified place from where it will be taken away by the Forest Department to dispose it off. The beach cleaning drive was organized to create general awareness among the students as well as the local residents and tourist, against the littering and to keep the beautiful beaches clean which attract more and more number of tourists to these islands.
